Adjustable Cells GeneHunter adjusts the values in the adjustable cells (the problem variables) and these values are related in some way to the fitness function. In this example, the number of servings from each food group is varied. When GeneHunter computes the number of servings for each food group, that number is multiplied by the cost per serving, then multiplied by 20 (the number of people in the group), and the total cost is summed in cell G15, the fitness function. An optimum solution is found when the cost is minimized while simultaneously honoring the constraints.
